Cosmetic polymers

AQUAPOL® SF-1

AQUAPOL® SF-1 is a lightly cross-linked acrylic polymer with 30% dispersion. AQUAPOL® SF-1 polymer is an acrylic emulsion having the ability to suspend, stabilize, thicken and enhance the appearance of high surfactant-based cleansing products. It is mainly used for clear formulation containing high levels of Surfactants. AQUAPOL® SF-1 also enhances the pearlescent appearance of the surfactant-based formulation.

Description

  • INCI Name: Acrylates copolymer
  • Milky, White Polymeric dispersion in water
  • Contains 30% active polymer
  • Low characteristic order

AQUAPOL® SF-22

AQUAPOL® SF-22 is an anionic hydrophobically modified alkali-soluble acrylic polymer emulsion (HASE thickener). AQUAPOL® SF-22 is an efficient cosmetic thickener for difficult-to-thicken surfactant systems. It is a cold-processable low viscosity liquid which provides ease of handling and reduces total manufacturing time. It contains 30% active polymer which thickens instantly upon neutralization.

Description

  • INCI Name: Acrylates/Steareth-20 Methacrylate Copolymer
  • Milky, White polymeric dispersion in water
  • Contains 30% active polymers
  • Stable in pH 5.5 to 12 formulation
  • Serves additionally as an emulsion stabilizer

FAQs

A few questions answered

  • What is the role of polymers in cosmetics?
Polymers play a crucial role in cosmetics by providing various benefits such as texture enhancement, stabilization, and improved product performance. These versatile compounds are employed to achieve desirable properties in cosmetics, ranging from enhanced product consistency to prolonged product lifespan.
  • Can you provide a list of polymers used in cosmetics?
A diverse array of polymers is used in cosmetics to fulfill different functions. Some commonly used polymers include acrylate copolymer, carbomers, silicones, polyacrylates, and cellulose derivatives. These polymers are selected based on their unique properties to enhance product texture, stability, and overall aesthetic appeal.
  • How are polymers utilized for personal care and cosmetics?
Polymers find extensive use in personal care and cosmetics due to their ability to create desired textures and improve product performance. They are employed in a range of products, including skincare formulations, hair care products, and body washes, to provide enhanced consistency, prolonged effects, and improved user experience.
  • What is the significance of carbomer gel in cosmetics?
Carbomer gel is a widely used polymer in cosmetics, particularly in skincare and hair care products. It functions as a thickening agent, enhancing the viscosity and consistency of formulations. This attribute allows it to create gel-based cosmetic products like body washes and creams, offering a luxurious feel and ease of application.
  • What are the advantages of gel-based cosmetic formulations?
Gel-based cosmetic formulations, often incorporating ingredients like carbomers or acrylate polymer, offer multiple advantages. They provide a refreshing and non-greasy texture, enabling quick absorption and leaving a pleasant sensation on the skin or hair. Additionally, gel-based products are effective carriers for active ingredients, ensuring optimal delivery and efficacy.
